BEACH HAZARD RATINGS

Hazard ratings are a general indication only.

BEACHES ARE DANGEROUS!

All beaches can vary on any given day – factors such as wind, swell, tide, location, surf and RIPS will determine how dangerous it is to swim.

Swimmer ability is also a major factor and be aware that swimming in the sea is much different to pools etc.

Be aware that any beach with surf on the day may have RIPs, for every wave coming in, a RIP takes water out – this is how water from incoming waves gets out.

LOW HAZARD 1-3

A generally safe beach with little or no surf.

MEDIUM HAZARD 4-6

Depends on the conditions of the day.

HIGH HAZARD 7+

Do not swim here unless you know what you are doing.  Not recommended for kids.  May be classified as high due to isolation.

Ugh!! the legal stuff…
